Herb Garden

Basil, Cilantro and Thyme, Oh My!

I can NEVER stress to you the importance of growing your own garden.  Even if you don’t have a green thumb, mastering a garden will make all your cooking taste 10 times better.

And if you’re like my Urban Farmer, you may fear for the end of the world and may want your own garden.

My intentions are completely different.  There is no better feeling in the world than craving a fresh Italian dish and walking out back and picking your own basil.  Ahh.  Just thinking of that brings a smile to my face.

I don’t think I should be giving any scientific or official advice on gardening since that’s the Urban Farmer’s job.  But I will give you the basic steps of starting your garden.

I will also be giving you updates on my own farming adventure along the way and ending with a boat load of recipes coming from my herb garden. Mmmmmmmm.

We started with little planters.  Fill the planter to the top with fresh soil.
Ok, so it has failed to snow this year so we are using
the Urban Farmers sleigh to catch the water.

Take a toothpick and put little holes in the dirt to plant the seeds.  We put them in opposing corners to allow them space to grow.
Basil seeds.  They are so tiny!!

The Urban Farmer Rocks my world!

Cover the seeds with dirt.

Water lovingly!
Awesome Garden!

Continue to water every three days and provide love and care!
